Answer
Dave,
What you most likely have is a Model 1906. In 1906, Winchester decided to make a lower cost version of the Model 1890. The Model 1890 was not produced in a .22 caliber, but the Model 1906 was. The fact that is has nickel plating means that it was an "Expert" version. It should have a 20" round barrel, a gumwood pistol grip stock and a fluted smooth slide handle. Some were nickel on the receiver guard and bolt (half-nickel) or on the receiver guard, bolt and barrel (full-nickel). These guns were made between 1918 and 1924. In "Fair" condition, the half-nickel version would be worth around $500-$600. The full-nickel version would be worth between $1000-$1200, again assuming it is in "Fair" condition. If the condition of the rifle is really good, these values could double.
You really need to have an antique gun dealer take a look at the gun to get an accurate value. Without seeing the gun and its condition, I am really just giving you a ballpark figure. I simply cannot provide a good value without actually inspecting the gun.
As far as finding a buyer, any antique gun dealer would probably pay a good price for it. If you are interested in selling it privately, I would suggest that you consider Gunbroker.com. They have an excellent reputation as an online auction place for firearms.
I hope this helps you out a bit...
