Answer
Hello David. The Batavia Automatic Rifle was manufactured by Baker Gun and Forging Company in 1909 only. I find no record of how many were made, although it would be a small number. The reason for such a short time of production is that the company was successfully sued by Savage over patent infringement. It was almost an exact copy of the Savage .22 caliber pump-action rifles Model 1903 and Model 1909. The low number of manufactured rifles has given it a high collectable status. I found one at Heritage Auction Galleries that sold for $478.The serial number on it was #35. It had not been altered, nor had it been re-blued. The clips on these rifles are in demand, since they are easily miss-placed or lost. A clip alone can bring over $100 at auction. I recommend you research information on Baker Gun and Forging Company. You will find it very interesting.
I hope this helps answer your questions and thank you for asking for me. Charles Gage
