Question
can you help me find a manufacture gat and history on my Colt official police 22 LR, and a value. The pistol is perfect, 10 out of 10, no scratches in the blueing or dings on the grips, the serial # is 10134
any help you could provide would be great, thank you Brad.
Answer
Brad,
From the serial number you provided, the gun was actually manufactured in late 1935. The first introduction of the gun in this particular caliber was in 1930. This model was discontinued in 1946. It was available in either a 4" or 6" barrel. The 4" barrel is pretty rare. The pistol was available in either a blued or nickel finish. If your gun has a round butt, that is very rare. Most had a square butt and checkered walnut grips. The patent date on the barrel should be October 5, 1926.
In 98% condition, your pistol is most likely worth just under $1,000. In 95% condition, that value drops to around $600. I realize that it may be hard for you to determine the difference. Things that really make the gun 98% vs. 95% include the condition of the finishes on the gun, whether it has been fired, whether you have the original paperwork and/or box and other minor factors that collectors tend to look for.
You have a pretty special little gun there...I hope this gives you some of what you were looking for.

Doug Little
