30.06 Savage Super Sporter

2016/7/22 9:05:25

Question
Hello Paul, I have a Savage Super Sporter bolt action in 30.06 s/n 3125. Can you tell me how or where I can get it repaired? I am missing the safety latch / mechanism on the left side. It appears that Savage does not service firearms prior to November 1,1995 since they have been taken over by its current management.

I would also like information on which model it may be and any other info regarding its history. I am located in Poulsbo Wa, near Seattle Wa.
Thank you very much Paul.

Answer
Your rifle was made between 1928 and 1940. Its also known as a model 40. It no frills utility grade rifle. Here link where you can look for used parts. http://www.savage99.com/parts.html
In terms of repairs you need to look a gunsmith in the local area. You have a local gun club. http://www.pscnet.net/ I would ask them for a good gunsmith near by.
