Western Marshal 22 Caliber

Question
I have a Western Marshal 22 Cal, #14855/2 in real bad shape, is it worth fixing and can I get parts anywhere?  Is there any place I could send it to be repaired? Front sight missing, Rod that holds the Cylinder bent & stuck, Grip cracked, etc.

Answer
Paul,

You have a J.P. Sauer Western Marshall.  These were popular back in the 1960s when Hollywood was making a lot of Western movies.  Sauer licensed the manufacture of most of their revolvers to other companies.  They were inexpensive western style pistols which when new only sold for $150-$200.  A specimen in excellent condition might only be worth $100-$150 today.

I did some checking with the usual suppliers of old gun parts.  Numrich Gun Parts (http://www.gunpartscorp.com) has some parts for these, but some of the parts you need are showing on their website as 'sold out'.

Also, based on the prices listed for the parts you need, it would cost you more than the gun would be worth to fix it.  That is possibly OK if the gun has sentimental value to you, but if not, you would likely be able to buy a used one somewhere for less than the cost to fix it.

Sorry I don't have better news...

Best regards,

Doug Little
