Question
So Sorry to bother you.
I've got a Westernfield 20 ga. I've had since 8 (about 30 years ago). M550CD 26 inch C-LECT-CHOKE. It's chambered for 2.34 and 3 inch shells. Might you know the value? It's got very little wear but some small rust spots that could be smoothed over. Any help would greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance, Jerry
Answer
Jerry,
No need to apologize...I am here to answer questions for you and others that are interested in finding out more about their firearms.
Your Western Field shotgun was a house brand from Montgomery Wards. The M550C model was actually produced by Mossberg and corresponds to their model 500C. These are nice utilitarian shotguns. They were not terribly expensive but excellent shooters. The Mossberg 500 series shotgun is arguably one of the most popular shotguns ever made. This model of shotgun was made between 1962 and 1998.
Since there are so many of them out there, there is no really interest from the standpoint of collect-ability. There is a decent demand for them on the used gun market. Depending on the condition of the gun, you might see a value of $150-$200 for it.
Hope this helps you out...
