LeFever
Hi, I have a LeFever 16 guage sxs, ser.# 20514 F. Has Woodcocks engraved on the sides, barrels are shiny inside. No visible damage, tight. Any info on this gun and an approximate value?

Answer
Hello Robert.
You have a woodcock on the left and a duck on the right. According to what information I have found ( over two hours research ), your serial number places the manufacture year at 1893. However, I also found that there is no exact science in dating a LeFever shotgun. Your's is an early model since it only carries the LEFEVER ARMS CO. logo and not the additional SYRACUSE,NY stamping. I can also tell from your picture that it has a Damascus twist barrel. I will say now, DO NOT SHOOT MODERN SMOKELESS AMMUNITION in this gun. It was built to fire BLACKPOWDER SHELLS ONLY!
The F following the serial number makes it a Model F Grade gun. This, along with it being a 16 gauge, will place the value very high. One book values it at over $2,000, but it may be even higher. I would definitely have it professionally appraised ( not at your local pawn shop ).
I hope this helps answer your questions and thank you for asking for me. Charles Gage
