Beretta Model 92

Question
I have a Model 92 purchased quite a few years ago. It is the original model (manual safety at top of hand grip). I found a few pictures. I have been trying to find information (I requested a manual for it from Beretta). I cannot find much on the Internet on this pistol. A lot on later models. I had read they made about 5000 of these, but I can not find any for sale on the net. Do you have info? I can make this a public question if my email address is protected. thanks

Hello Curt.
First, AllExperts does not make any e-mail addresses public for the protection of those who choose to ask questions on this forum.
You are correct in stating that this pistol is the original model, also known as the Beretta Model 92 1st Model. In researching this Model 92, I found conflicting information on the ' slide-mounted safety ' and the ' frame-mounted safety '. Some saying that the 1st Model had the ' slide-mounted safety ' which is incorrect. Since there were only about 5,000 of this model manufactured, it may be very difficult to find one for sale. Blue Book of Gun Values 32nd Issue by Fjasted lists it from $350 to $800. These prices are only approximations, since the value of any firearm is relative to the current market and subject to change.
I did find a copy of the original ' First Review ' of the Model 92 in The American Rifleman. It does include a detailed break down of this pistol and instructions of how to disassemble it for cleaning. This is the web address: www.americanrifleman.org/ArticlePage.aspx?id=2012&cid=19.
I hope this information helps answer your questions and thank you for asking for me. Charles Gage
