Answer
Hello Craig.
I would like to throw some facts and possibilities, about your shotgun, your way.
1. It was manufactured in Suhl, Germany
2. I researched the Lutzelberger name and it is Germanic
3. The percussion cap was introduced ( not invented ) around 1830
4. One round barrel and one octagonal is generally representative of a combination rifle and
shotgun ( although both barrels may be smooth bore, the rifle barrel is thicker to handle
the higher pressures of a rifle ball ).
5. The name 'Richards' was used on some shotguns manufactured in Germany
6. There were many gun manufacturers in Suhl Germany during the years of the percussion cap
muzzle loading firearms
These are facts.
It is possible that the name 'Lutzelberger' was the gunsmith who actually manufactured your shotgun. I do not know why the name 'Richards' would be included on this shotgun. Wesley Richards founded his firearms business in London in 1812. He never had a gun shop in Germany.
As far as a value, I would suggest searching for a firearms appraisal company. You might check www.gun-appraisals.com.
I hope this will help you find what you need. Charles Gage
