gun identification

Question
Good morning, sir! First, let me say, thank you for donating your time and efforts. I'm hoping you can help me to identify a rifle, possibly WWII? I'm only guessing that because it is stamped 1940, but as I know nothing about guns this might not even be a date at all. It also has a "D" stamped on it followed by "10298". There is also a very small emblem stamped on the underside of the barrel that reminds me of a griffin. It's very hard to see as there is thick rust distorting it. Oh and there is also a circle with an upside down triangle with a possible "T" inside the triangle. I have searched and searched but not knowing what any of these marking means makes for a difficult search. The stock along the barrel is 2 pieces. I am including a link with a gun that looks very similar and it also had a pic of the circle, pyramid,T on it. And I don't know if it matters but the whole stock of the gun has short depressed burns? all over it. The rifle is a 7.62x54mm. Any insights you can provide, sir, will be greatly appreciated and I thank you again.

Answer
Hello Angela.
You have already done the leg work. Have you thought about joining us here at AllExperts? There are many variations of the M91/30 rifle. They are so plentiful that they sell from $90 to $130. Wish I could tell you more. Thank you, Charles Gage
