Question
I recently just purchased a NR Davis and Sons side by side hammered 12 gauge with a 30 inch barrel. there is a 5 stamped on the breach right underneath the barrels. it is a stainless steel barrel in fine condition maybe excellent. It says N.R. Davis and Sons on both sides of gun, so from my understandin is that it was made between 1880 to 1925. is that correct? What year was it made in? i cant find a stainless steel 30 inch double barrel 12 gauge anywhere.underneath the forearm there is a number on each barrel.. It looks like it reads; S, then either a B or 8, 8, C, 8, L-F. The other barrels numbers are worn a bit but it looks like; S, 8 or 3, 8 or 3. anybody have any information at all on this gun??

Do not fire this gun without a gunsmith looking at it first.
No Davis guns were made stainless steel barrels. Stainless was not used until 1965.
They were damascus steel or liquid steel.
