Question
Hello. I just purchased a Remington 12 gauge double barrel shotgun. It appears in very good shape. I was hoping you could supply me with a little info on it. It says Remington Arms Co., Ilion, NY. Patented Oct 30 94. It has alot of scroll work on the reciever and the barrels have a swirly pattern on them. I do not believe it is a Damascus barrel. The serial # is P132614 and all parts have this number. Thank you.
Answer
Hi Pat,
You have a Remington Hammerless Shotgun Model 1894.
http://www.remington.com/products/archived/shotguns/side-by-side/model-1894.aspx
These were offered in A, B, C, D, E, and Special Trap grades.
In very good condition A grade gun its about $1750.00 with Damascus barrels add 25% for fluid steel barrels.
Basically you going to have gunsmith look at it person to determine which grade it is.
It its B grade or higher you need appraised it could worth a small fortune.
You can also inquire at http://www.remingtonsociety.com they Remington collectors.
