Reassembly issue

spring in questiont   Hello, I have a small issue. I broke down my Jennings T380 to check it out. Everything seemed to be in order except one thick, tightly wound spring with a button top allen screw on one side. I checked every manual I could download (Bryco, Jennings, and Jimenez), and I can't find a single manual with this spring! I'm thinking maybe a friend added it in to "tame" it, but I have not the slightest clue. One of my more firearm knowledgeable friends said it may be a slide return spring, but I assume that is incorrect because I reaseembled the T380 and it fed great and the slide works the same as it did without the spring in there. I cannot allow myself to fire this without knowing what the spring is and if it is important, not trying to have this Bryco blow up on me (like most every review states). Thank you for any help.

Sorry without manual and seeing gun hard to tell, my guess is if it was in there before, it did something and needs to  be there.

If you can find another gun at another store, go check it out and see if you see it. Or bring it to a local gunsmith and let him take a look he may tell you what and where and the tell you how much to fix, at least you will have more First hand info than someone on the net telling some guess.
