i have a stevens single shot break open 22LR pistol with a plunger cocking mechinisim?it has a 8" barrel an i believe its a target pistol with globe sights, i would like to no what model it is when it was made an if it is worth anything? serial #1291 ?

Sounds like what you have is a Stevens Model 10 single shot target pistol. They were made between 1919 and 1939. Based on your serial number, I suspect your dates to the early 1920s. The are interesting little guns that depending on the condition can command up to $400. An average specimen might bring half that. Since you have not given me any idea of the condition of the gun, I can't really say what the true value might be.
Things that will make it more valuable are things like no rust or pitting anywhere on the gun, the original finish is in good condition, grips are in good condition (not cracked or broken), the gun is fully operational, and the bore is in excellent condition (mirror like...)
I'm not sure I'd shoot it without having a gunsmith check it out...
If you search for a Steven Model 10, several pictures will come up and you can compare your gun to them.
