Question
QUESTION: What year was my 32 cal. ivory johnson made sn#o-28716
ANSWER: Hello Dwayne.
You haven't given me much information. With the serial number O-28716, I can only say that it is an 'Iver Johnson Safety Automatic Small Frame Hammerless .32 caliber Fifth Variation' revolver manufactured in 1905. There were 50,000 of these revolvers manufactured in 1905.
Thank you for asking for my help. Charles Gage

QUESTION: Since it is a 1905 model I should be able to fire modern ammo in it correct?
Answer
Hello again, Dewayne.
I do not advise shooting any ammunition in it before having it thoroughly inspected by a competent licensed gunsmith. It was manufactured to fire smokeless ammunition, however, the cartridge pressures a hundred years ago were generally lighter than now. If it is O.K.'d by the gunsmith, use only .32 caliber S&W ( not .32 ACP,.32 H&R Mag., or any other ) cartridges in it. Charles Gage
