Private party gun sale in Arizona

Question
Hello,
Done quite a bit of research but cannot find a definitive answer. What is required of private parties when the want to buy/sell or trade a handgun or a long gun?
What I do know is that you cannot knowingly transact with a known felon and also that there is no way for me to legally determine that.
What type of documentation should I get/require in order to transact a firearm sale in Arizona?
Thank you
Answer
Please note that I do not reside in Arizona so you should verify what I say. Your best source (I use that term loosely) is contacting your local law enforcement agency such as your Sheriff's Office and ask for them to cite you the state code.
I believe AZ is the same as GA for private party sale of a firearm you need to make sure the seller is of legal age, meets the residency requirement, and to your knowledge not a prohibited person from possessing/owning a firearm. It's common to see the seller's state issued driver's license to verify age and residency and CCW permit will cover the prohibited persons. If the person does not possess a CCW permit, you should ask if they are prohibited from possessing/owning a firearm and take their statement.
Next you have to decide whether or not you want to use bill of sale even if it's not mandated. For sellers, the advantage is a bill of sale creates a paper trail in case the firearm sold is ever used in crime. Same goes for the buyer, they may want the reassurance the firearm hasn't been used in crime.
