i recently purchased a rugger revolver the sp101 .22LR but its the older 6 shot model i was wondering if i could fire magnum rounds through it with out hurting the firearm if i could even fit them into the cylinder thanks for the help.

It depends what you call mag rounds, some people call CII stingers mags since they are faster than long.
A 22. mag round is different and should only be shot in a 22. mag gun. The gun should hold stinger rounds no problem, but without seeing the pistol or having it inspected there is no way to know for sure. IF the gun was abused and stressed and may have minor stress fractures that cannot be seen, so to say for sure is impossible.
It would be like asking if I an old car could I drive it 120 mph since it was old, it would depend on how the cared for, miles, suspension, maintenance, and many other factors.
