Wrist watch
Question
Hi there,
So my current $50 Casio watch which I bought from Superstore about a month ago - has died once again. I'm a swim instructor and lifeguard, so I'm in the water all the time. I need my watch for my job, and can't be without it - so I need to get it replaced asap.
I'm gonna break down and buy an expensive one, with the hope that it will keep the water out finally.
I was wondering, do you have any recommendations as to what watch to buy, and/or where to buy one (Calgary area)?
That'd be a huge help. Thanks.
PS: What is the approximate price of a good quality water proof watch?
Tx.
Answer
Hello, Generally speaking, there are 2 classes; waterproof and water resistance.Water resistance are usually better.A true scuba diving watch is what i would suggest you look at.Their construction is far superior. As to what brands, or models of dive watches that are available, at the various dive shops in Calgary, i could not comment on that specifically, however they should have a good variety to choose from.A good quality "water proof" watch will run from $85.00 to $200.00 For a very good medium priced Scuba watch, i would look at the brand called: Reactor Fallout Chronograph watch. It sells for $249.00us, and is tested to over 200 ft., even though you are not scuba diving per-say, this watch will be trouble free as long as you plan to own it! Brands like Tag-Huer and Mares tend to be expensive, and for your use, you don't have to spend a ton of money, to get what you want.I myself have a Tag-H.which i bought 7 yrs. ago, and i paid around $2,100 dollars., however your needs are a little different.I would not buy a watch from a department store....to get "real quality",i would suggest that you buy one from a reputable dive shop in your area (Calgary).Hope this helps, and thanks for your question.
