BC Repair
Question
QUESTION: Is there a trick to removing/replacing a bladder from plastic exhaust port rings after unscrewing the caps?
ANSWER: Hi Jim,
I've found that it depends on the BC device. Some are 'welded' in and there is now way to change them. If there isn't a zipper access to remove them (like on wings) I'd bet there isn't a replacement option.
Hard to say without seeing it, of course.

James

QUESTION: Thank you James.
This ProSub DVC does have zipper access to remove the wings and access the bladder. It is earlier soft pack model but has been well maintained and in excellent condition except for the CO2 valve which is in need of replacing or removal. It has never been used since I use low pressure port to balance fill it. I carefully pulled/removed the bladder away the upper exhaust ring to take a closer inspection of the bladder, thinking I could figure out out to attach and resecure both halves of the exchaust ring later? Now is later. Can you give any additional advice? Thanks, Jim
Answer
Hi Jim,
I'm sure you realize how important a proper functioning BC is to safe diving. I'm not a manufacturer's certified tech for ProSub BCDs so I'm sure you can understand why it isn't wise for me to advise you further on this gear, beyond recommending that you consult directly with the manufacturer.
I've had wings come apart with no apparent means of having them attached, and it was always an adhesive of some sort (a chemical bond... like welding).
Make sure you test thoroughly if you do end up using an older BCD, and, of course, carry a backup wing under this one.
saludos,
James
