Answer
Hi James
I assume you're the same "James" as in the previous question. I don't see a question in your statement but I'm assuming that you're wondering if 40 pounds is the correct weight for your size and setup. Without any additional information, I would say that 40 pounds is about right for the type of diving you're doing. You will probably need to be able to stay on the bottom in a mild current and, I'm guessing, without fins. If that's the case then you need to be overweighted to achieve this. If you feel that it's too much, try removing a few pounds and see if you like the result. You will want at least half of it situated towards the front of your body. This will allow you to remain face down while you work the river bottom. Try moving the weights around until you find a setup which permits you to stay in the position which is most comfortable for you.
James, If this isn't the information you need, write back with a specific question and I'll try to answer it.
Sincerely,
Mike Giles
