Scuba Pool Service
Question
One of the screws on the main intake drain cover in my underground pool has loosened and the cover is now slightly dislodged. Are there divers who specialize in pool service who could tighten down this cover? I do not want to have to drain the pool. I am located in Eastern Massachusetts. Thanks.
Answer
Hi James,
Yes, there are divers who specialize in pool service. However, for something as simple as just tightening down a screw, you just need a certified diver. If you have any friends who are certified, they would be capable of doing something simple like that. If you have someone doing the weekly maintenance, ask them if they know someone. If you don't know any certified divers, and the pool guy doesn't know anyone, go to a couple of local dive shops and talk to the owners. They'll know someone who can do the job.
As for how much it will cost... the actual dive should take less than 5 minutes (I'd be surprised if it even takes that long). Heck, setting up and breaking down their gear is going to take longer than the actual job. If it were me, I'd accept lunch and a six pack of nice beer. heh Figure on paying for an hour; maybe $30-$50.
Hope this helps,
