my 2k time

Question
hay im a freshman in highschool and im kinda mad at myself becouse i rowed a 720 on my 2k and my budy got 709 on his 2k could u tell me what my time should be at and what to hold my split at?

Answer
Hi Colton: Your time is good for your age.  If you go to the Concept II website (the company that makes the ergs), they have a place where you can see where your time ranks with others.  Assuming you are a 14 year old heavyweight, your time would rank 41st out of 83 rowers your age.  Your friend would rank 31st.

Just keep working out with rowing, running and weights, eat right, get sleep and stay away from stupid stuff like cigarettes and beer, and your time will keep going down.

Your first goal would be to row as fast as your friend.  To have a 7:09 pace, you need to maintain an average of 1:47 for each 500.  But since you get slower as you get more tired in the middle of the piece, you probably need to start your first 500 at 1:38 to 1:40 and then hold on for the rest of the piece.
