Womens lightweight erg scores

Question
I am 15 and am 5'4" and 115 pounds, currently I pull a 7:54 2k and a 26:30 6k(it was only my second 6k).  I have seen doctors and I am not growing, so I would like to know what are my chances at rowing lightweight in college, and what is the average erg scores for a college women's lightweight rower?

Answer
Hi Alice: As you probably know, you are rowing exceptionally well for someone as light as you. Only 10% of 14-16 year old lightweight women can break 8:00 -- which you have done with several seconds to spare.

With your ability, I think you could probably row college lightweight right now.  But to be really competitive, you probably need to row between 7:30 and 7:45. Of course, I am assuming your on-water technique is good and that you have racing experience.

I think your body might grow some before college.  5'-8" and 130 would be a good height and weight for you to compete in college.  But I think you'll do fine even if you don't grow that much.

Good Luck/AP
