i'm a begginer rock climber and i can't do the sport that often...what's a good way to train to become a better rock-climber? like what kind of exercises shsould i be doin?

Answer
Hi
Right i can totally see where you're coming from, when you say you havent got that much time, im in the same position. From personal experience, i would deffinatly advise a pull up bar!! They are so cheap, easy and last for such a long time. Plus after a few weeks of doing a couple of chin ups here and there, you feel so much stronger.
OK as far as a good training session goes, i would deffinatly suggest a rowing machine and a punch bag.
These can be added to a planned and timed circuit, along with sit ups, press ups, leg changes, and anything you can think of really, that will develop your strength for climbing, in both legs and arms.
(Keep in mind that your legs should do most of the work on the wall, and that your arms are there for balance-unless on an overhang)
Try and get into the habit of doing a good warm up, stretching well and then a well deserved warm down. If you follow this routine, then when it comes to climbing, your body will be able to cope with lactic acid build up better.
This will enable your body to go on for a longer period of time.
It totally depends on what type of intensity you're going to be climbing at. If you see yourself taking this sport further then training will help you alot along the way.
When beginning climbing, you need to be really thinking about technique, and this will come with the more experience and confidence you gain on the wall.
I think that when starting climbing you might be thrown into many new environments, and it maybe quite intimidating, but try to concentrate on your progress and what you are achieving by taking part in this sport. You gain a confident mentality in climbing and your physical side of the sport will grow with time.
I hope i make sense!!
If i can help with anything else, i will be glad to give some more advise!!
Hope i have been helpful!!
I wish you all the luck in the future!!
Let me know how it goes, if you can!!
