How can someone fall when climbing by themselves?
Question
Dear Mr. Allen,
I'm currently participating in a Mock Trial Team. What does this have to do with rock climbing? Well, the case is about this girl (Anne) and she is a rock climber. She was found dead at the base of a cliff which is a popular rock climbing location and it is a fact that the night of her death she was rock climbing alone. The big question is if she fell while rock climbing or if she was murdered by the defendant.
The girl was found with a utility pouch and carabineers. My question is what kind of rock climbing would she most likely have been doing with a uitility pouch, carabineers, and a rope? How possible is it that she fell (note that she has climbed this cliff several times before)?
Thank You Very Much
Answer
Dea Jessica-- I do not know what a "pouch" is with respect to climbing.
I have done accident investigations as a professional, but I am afraid there is simply not enough information in your scenario to make any speculation.
If you have more to share, I will take another try.
Good Luck
George
