Top-rope anchors
Question
Can 1" tubular webbing be used to create a top-rope anchor/master point? And if so, is the set-up any different than using static line (knots, anchor points, etc)?
Answer
Jack,
I will answer this assuming you have experience setting up top rope climbs. The answer is yes. Generally speaking 1" webbing is static and really no different than using a static rope, however, you would need quite a bit of webbing to build a good anchor. Be Redundant!!! One piece of webbing simply girth hitched around a tree is not redundant! I see this rig all the time and it's frightening!
If you have little experience with this, please get instruction from a professional guide.
