How to work out
Question
Dear Mr. DeHart,
Im in high school doing cross country and have about 1 more week until the seasons over. After that i want to train for Track season, which is about 3 months away. I mostly run the 400, 800, and 1600m. If i want to improve with my 800 time the most, How should i workout? doing more sprints or doing more 800 and 1600 distances?
Answer
First thing 800 runner, speed comes very fast so be patient. All speed comes from a solid aerobic and strenght base.Do not rush this phase of your training.I suggest 6 to 8 weeks. The higher the miles you can put in with out injury or stress fracture as time allows the better.Doing some doubles will help do to your lack of time with school. Also an extended long run on weekends is a great way to get into the higher range.
To your success
