Running and bigger thighs and butt

Hi John,

I've been running now for almost two years and have lost 37 lbs.  When I lived in New York City,  I would do a 20 minute run at about 109 minutes/mile and then do a series of 3 minute intervals at high speeds with 2 minute breaks in between.  THis entire routine would last for about one hour for about 4 times a week.   I also lifted weights (eg - 160 lb. leg presses 3 reps of 10).  My diet hasn't changed (very protein heavy supplemented with shakes)  I recently moved to California and I have stuck to the same routine to continue to lose weight but have had to cut back slightly because of work (I only run 2 days a week).  I can barely fit into the jeans I bought 15 lbs. ago and I am at a complete loss.  I am freaking out and wondering if I should cease running and move to the elliptical machine.  I can't figure out if I put on so much muscle mass that I am getting bigger or if my muscle is too bulky.  Either way, I want my legs leaner and am concerned that I can continue to lose weight, but I will never get smaller.  Can you pinpoint my problem?  What is your advice?

Bottom line,you have to get back into your running,and forget the heavy leg presses.Your running routine should be focused on length of your running,and the longer the better, working up to 1hr.5 days a week.You will continue to lose weight as long as you keep up your routine of putting in those miles and eating balance meals.Their is no easy road terry.It is just like saving money,you can't build a beautiful portfolio over night.It takes time.This is a life time of consistent focus.You can find the time if you want to.Anything else terry get in touch.
