ITBand Pain
Question
John, thanks for the quick reply. I am 43, 5'4", 125lbs. I have been running off and on since high school. I run on soft surface only, but it is not flat. The problem started with a long run one winter morning when I experienced the IT band tightness on the outside of the R knee on the leg.I know now I should have stopped, but kept going. By that afternoon, I couldn't straighten my leg. I did RICE, stretches, all that I could find on google, but his continues to be an issue, even with fast walking. Is chiropractic helpful? And, I just invested in new Mizuno shoes, a brand I have never tried. I know I needed new shoes and had them fitted to me, supposedly.

I have chronic ITB Syndrome (right)and cannot find any way to relieve this pain, even with a 2 year lay off from running. I also suffer from pain on the crest of the iliac, mostly right side, but sometimes left. I run only 3 miles 3 times a week and walk the other 2 with 2 days off. Any thoughts? Thanks,nj

Hi NJ
You have to give me more info to respond properly such as age height weight how long running when it started. The over all bottom line in your situation is your going to have to get back to basics which includes weights, light complete streching of all body parts,ab work etc.etc.Over time nj we develop imbalances which create these situations and that is just the way it is.Be patient and keep you focus on the rehap and you will be back in good form. Also google your it band for some good info.Another thing start taking 500mg vit.c with your 3 meals a day.
The very best to you
John
Answer
Hi NJ
I would not go to chiropractic.I would start on a good weight program.Leg extensions, leg curls,abductor-adductors and stationary bike.I think this is the route you have to take in rebalancing everything, and then after afew weeks test the waters and see how you feel. You can also take some epson salt baths. These are very theraputic.Let me no your progress.
The very best
