nutrition and training
Question
Hi John. I've been training for a half marathon and have gotten to the 10 point. Up until now, I pretty much would drink a glass of H2O and head out. Now that I'm striving for the 10 mile mark, I have no energy, I pretty much burn out by 8.5 miles. Time to change my stratgey. I was thinking of eating eggs, banana, toast and juice before my run to ensure that I have energy to complete it without feeling "weighted down." Also, I am trying to lose weight (lost 38lbs so far, 12 more to go) and don't want any additional calories but still need to be able to run too. What are your thoughts on this? I'm only 6 weeks out till the half marathon so I need to get a meal plan together for these long runs quickly. Thanks!

Answer
Hi Carly
I would not eat before your training runs.I would just slow the pace what ever it is and just make sure you are totally confortable well within yourself. If you want take some walking breaks. That breakfast is not going to help you.It is the food the night before that you run on.The main thing is to start off very very easy and staying very confortable on automatic pilot.Your goal should be to go two and a half hours non stop. This will give you the confidence you need.Just don't worry about the pace.If you have other questions just in touch Carly.
All the best
