Jogging and Knee Injury
Question
Few months back I slipped on a wet floor and my knee bended in a wrong direction. My doctor reffered my case to physiotherapist. I did some exercises with physiotherapist and finally I got a little better, although my knee was still thick by then and it was not completely recovered. I started again my jogging. I was practicing jogging on hard ground. One day I was feeling weakness in my that particular knee but went to the jogging due to the insistence of one of my friend. I was feeling that something is wrong but was unable to figure out it. I reached room and started some exercise that the Physiotherapist told me to do, by bending the knee upto the buttocks. All of a sudden something seemed to have moved in my left knee and I wanted to scream with severe pain. I was bed ridden and completely unable to run. My MRI test showed that I have tear my medial meniscus and completely ruptured my ACL. What I want to ask from you is that is that problem due to jogging on hard ground or was it due to some poor treatment of my knee when i was slipped. I have been recommended for knee surgery and now cannot run and God know I ll be able to run or not again. But I am still not sure that what was the main cause of problem. If it is due to jogging, should I discontinue even when I fully recovers or not. I am addicted to jogging and wants to jog again but I am also afraid of this experience. Is it possible that jogging on hard ground makes knee uncomfortable and may cuase injury. Also, I am a bit overweight and needs jogging to reduce the weight.
