Metatarsal Injury
Question
Hi I have just fractured my 3rd Metatarsal I'm into a I'm mountain race. I am in a boot cast until my next check up in two weeks time. I am due to run the NYC Marathon on the the of November and I don't know if its going to be possible now. Is there any training I can do (aqua running etc) that will help me keep up my CV training while I sit out the next few weeks?

Hi Niall
The best tool i would reccomend is a stationary bike in which you can do anything on the bike that you can do on the road,speed by time,2hr rides,tempo,etc.I have run new york four times and it is no a easy course.If i was your coach i would reccomend you pack it in and put your focus on another marathon 2 to 3 months out or spring to insure complete recovery.You would be cutting it pretty close.If you have any other questions Niall just get in touch.
