Runners Knee/ITBS/I dont know!
Question
Hey John!
I've been doing research trying to figure out what is wrong with my knee, and I hope you can help me.
I am a 22 year old male. I've been recovering from a broken collar bone since Dec. 1st to around the end of Jan. and I began to work out again.
I have a 4 mile run to the gym, work out, then a 4 mile run back home. I've been doing this off and on for about 2 weeks. One run, on the way there, at about the 2nd mile, I arrived at a creek, hopped over it and step up a little 70 degree hill, and continued my run up a 20 degree hill, about 1 min later my left
knee began to feel like it was cramping (i've never fealt this before, but it's my only way to describe it). I thought it was just a cramp and it would wear off no problem. It kept getting worse as I continued to run. About 5 minutes later I couldn't run any more. I stopped to stretch thinking that would help and tried to run on it a minute later, but this time I couldn't even make it 5 steps without stopping. I was able to walk the rest of the distance to the gym, work out and walk home.
The day after I went rollerblading to see if I could do it. I was able to rollerblade with no problems. I thought it was better, but when I tried running I fealt the same problem in my left knee and can't run on it.
It's been about a week now and I still feel this problem. It doesn't feel like it's healing or getting worse, just staying the same.
I've done alot of research on the internet trying to figure out what it is. I'm not sure if it's ITBS or runners knee or whatever. Thank you for your time.

Answer
Hi Nick
I bet is the knee from the creek.Probably alignment and tracking.I would start using the stationary bike and nothing else till it corrects.I would test the waters once a week.Any other questions just get in touch.Let me know how it works for you.Bike is the best tool.No elliptical, bike only no rollerblading.
All the best
