too fat to run

Hi I'm 5'3" 213lbs I joined a learn to run group I'm scared I've waisted my money I'm scared I'm just too large to run,I'm afraid for my knees. How fat is too fat to run?

I think you made a great decision, as long as this group is teaching you to run.
There will be some aches and pains at first, but that is to be expected because of your weight. However, there are a whole group of marathon runners and long distance runners who are "larger than average." Many of them run faster than I do!
The point is to run at a pace which challenges you, but doesn't overwhelm you.
When I was 198 lbs I couldn't run across the street. As a little bit of the weight came off, I was able to run 15 miles at a time. That's partly because I've built up muscle along with the running training.
Here's what I suggest. Set a distance goal, like finishing a 5k. Sign up for the race and train for it (make sure it's at least 6 months from now). When you're used to running, add in 2-3 days of strength training for 20-30 minutes. That will help you drop weight and strengthen your muscles for running and overall living.
