cross country high school
Question
i am a freshman and i am in cross country
last week we had 3 events (sat. wed. sat.)5k
this week my knee has started to hurt
went to a orthpedic sports dr. they didn't see anything in xray want to take a mri i am gonna wait 1 more week to see if pain goes away if pain persist will take mri
if this is just from overdoing it last week how can i prevent this from happening again?
after cross country i will be in track indoor and then outdoor
i can't stand the fact that i am not training and waiting for my knee to heal
what can i do to speed up the recovery if it is just the fact of over doing it
thanks-
kim
Answer
I can't fully factor in why your knee is injured, but over-training is very common in running, which can cause injury as a result. If your knee is still injured in the near future, you will have to take the rest your body needs. You can't force an injury to heal faster, you just have to let the body repair itself. Quality nutrition will help give adequate recovery, so cutting out & reducing junk foods will help out. Since you are already seeing a doctor about this, its best to follow your doc's advice on how to handle this situation as it develops.
