HIP PAIN & JOGGING QUESTIONS

Question
Hi John,

I am new to this whole jogging business.I started working out on the elliptical 4 months ago for about 20 minutes a day, and doing some core exercises with the ball. About two weeks ago I took my training outside, and I have seen quite a difference on my hips. I thought maybe I was working out a new muscle, but now I really think it's simply my joints are not ready for the outside. My hip does not hurt during my jog, but after I have a hard time walking all day, it especially hurt on the right side of my hip.  I do stretches a bit before and then after especially. However it still hurts. I am just wondering, do I keep jogging through the pain and will it pass once i get stronger or should I take a few days to recover? I also had a child about a year ago, so I know their must have been some shifts in my hips from that. I am 27 years old, I am 5'4 and weigh about 139 pounds.
Should I be jogging Monday-Friday? or is that too hard on the body?

Answer
Hi Carolyne
It doesn't sound anything serious.Training and working out especially when your new to it is all about gradually increasing the overload on the the muscular skeleton and listening to your body talk.Over time you will be stronger. One thing you can do to help your self is do a walk jog which will help quite a bit.And also there is nothing wrong with just adding some walks for recovery days until some of the soreness goes away.Just remember to take your time, there is no hurry.I started out just like you years a go.This you will find out over time is one of the best thing you ever did for your self and your family.QUALITY OF LIFE.Any other questions just get in touch.

All the best

John
