post half marathon training

Question
I just completed a half marathon last weekend and am already signed up for a full marathon the third week of March 2010. I want to continue my training but do not know when to increase my mileage for the next long run. I ran this last race in 2:30. A PR for me since my best marathon time has been 5:40. I regularly ran long runs of at least 2 hours the weeks prior to the half marathon. Can I wait until next weekend to increase?

Answer
Hi Kim
I would give your self another 3 weeks so your body is fully recovered before you start the longer runs.In between just run easy.Without good recovery there is no growth in the muscular skeleton or healing of tissues, tendons, ligaments, collagen.I do phone coaching from here in albuquerque nm if you think that is something you might be interested in.Check out laurie occonor on my web site under athletes advised.22minute improvement from 4:25 to 4:03 and works 12 hrs a day at 38yrs.She is preparing with me for the virginia beach 1/2 3/21.Any other questions Kim just get in touch or call if you like.

All the success
