Answer
Hi Jay
Since your allready in good shape, you can go right at it.You still have to proceed with caution when you move into a new regieme. What i recomend is two workouts.
1...a sport specific intervals program, where you duplicate what happens on the hockey field at different durations working up to the length of three quarters of the event time.Number two is same as first except shorter in duration with rest intervals in between. You can decide the times, but i would recomend something like starting at two minutes on one minute rest ten to fifteen reps working up to five minutes on two minutes rest twenty reps.Your first one is once a week and your shorter ones twice a week. These are brutal Jay so be carefull.
2...Hill repeats..75 meters...incline 15 degree's.Work into them getting faster as you get used to them.Start out with seven and work up to fifteen to twenty once a week.
3...Before you attempt any of these make sure you warm up and strech rel good.Again be carefull, these can bring you down quick Jay.Let me know how this looks to you.
To a successfull hockey season
John
