Question
I am 145 lbs. and currently run approximately 35 minutes 4-5 times a week on the treadmill.  Recently, I have noticed tenderness and slight bruising on the back of both legs between by calf muscules and ankle.  I recently bought new running shoes, could it be related to the type of shoe, or could it be a more serious problem.

Answer
Hi pat
You didn't tell me your height,to see how the ratio is.Its not so much the shoes as to your condition .Did you use the incline?which could effect the calfs. It doesn't seem serious.Just strain.Apply ice for about 10 minutes for a few days.Once your shoes break in you will be fine.Don't forget to strech your calfs after you have been moving for about 5 min.

Best regards

John
