Question
Hi. I'm pretty young (19) and generally healthy but out of shape. I've been looking into running as a way to get healthier, start a good exercise habit and (of course) lose some weight. However, I had a lot of pain in my knees when I was growing up, and I saw an orthopedist, but no real cause was determined. It's been a lot less frequent the past few years, but I was wondering what I should expect on my knees, being that running is obviously a high-impact workout and I've generally been getting little to no exercise for most of my life. Are there any special precautions I should take or stretches I could do? Should I consult a doctor first? (I still see an orthopedist, but for lower back pain) Thanks very much in advance.
Answer
Hi Mel
Their is nothing you have to be aware of.Just start out gradually and work up to a time you want to run.The one thing you can do is if you have access to a gym,is leg extensions and leg curls. The other would be to do some biking which will strengthen the quads and help track the knee so it glides properly.Se how that goes for you tate.
To your success
