ankle injury or just needing to build up?

Question
I started running over 8 months ago, was running on the road and then a packed gravel/sand wash along a canal. I have had no problems. About 3 months ago, I started "running/hiking" up a mountain. A week or so ago I went and did the mountain three times instead of just twice. On the way down you are going basically from boulder to boulder with some sandy areas in between for running. I never felt my ankle twist and did not feel any pain during the run but have had soreness on the front outside of my ankle underneath the ankle bone. This has not bothered me during my road/canal runs this past week but I did a trail run on uneven terrain and it bothered me then. It also bothered me on my mountain run today as I was coming down. There is no swelling or bruising. Is this just soreness from running on uneven terrain 4 times in the past week compared to my normal two and should get better as I build up on uneven terrain or is this an injury that I can't find information on? I do wear trail shoes for runs on uneven terrain and medium stability shoes for my regular runs.
Thanks

Hi Carrie
You have just added a new level of training to your musculature, tendons, ligaments surrounding your ankle for stabilty and support. Also the peroneal tendon.Yes carrie it is directly related to your increased training effect.Your body is telling you to get off the mountain for a while and give me a little easy jogging till i recover or you will pay the price. If you fall from the instability it could be a lot more than a twisted ankle or bruises. How about broken shoulder,concusion,etc.etc.etc.Training is about three things and repeating it over and over...A. overload,B. feed,C. rest. You are leaving out the rest phase process.Without rest their is no growth or healing.Sounds like a lot of fun what your getting into carrie.Take a break from time to time and you will be fine.Hope i haven't been to hard on you.Just doing my job.any thing else get in touch.
Success to to you
