back soreness

Question
hi , im 19 years old and i have been running regularly for a few months now - i try to go 3 times a week, but at least twice a week and clock up around 15 miles (at a guess).
I have enjoyed a great improvement in general fitness, stamina and all round wellbeing, although recently i'm experiencing back soreness and also occasionally in my shins and knees(which i well know is common) since i have started to 'pick up the pace'.
I was just wondering if it is advisable to take a break from running to allow the body to recover as it adapts to greater stress from training? many thanks, Al
Answer
Hi Alex
The only thing you need to do is just cut your mileage and pace back about 75 percent for a couple weeks and add some light streching for your low back and quads.I would also add 500mg of vit.c with your 3 meals a day to enhance recovery of tissues, tendons, connective tissue, cells. After a couple a weeks you can start gradually rebuilding your program.ENJOY THE PROCESS.
All the best
John
