Gaining weight since I started running

Question
I've been training for 4 weeks now to prepare for a 15K race in March '07. First 15K race ever. My training schedule has me running 3 times a week (right now it's 3 miles) & cross training twice a week for 30 minutes. Since I've started this training I'm hungry more than I was before. I'm 35 yrs. old, bounce between 127-130 lbs., 5'6" tall. The holidays are finally over and I did indulge in holiday drinking and eating but I feel like I'm reaching for the wrong foods when I'm hungry. I ate a bowl of cereal last night at 10pm which I haven't done in a long time. What should I be doing so I don't gain weight?
Answer
Hi Kara
Just eat normal.Three meals a day with the proper balance of protein, carbs and good fats. The breakfast is the key to set you up for the day.Walnuts are a great snack loaded with omega 3's to nibble on and take the edge off.Drink lots of water all day.Nothing wrong with adding a few more miles to your runs and cross training to keep it in check.I would not stress about it.If you have any other questions just get in touch Kara. You also have to use some disipline if your commited to the results.Very important.
All the best
John
