Question
Hello, and thanks for the website. I have recently started running and I what the best warm up is to avoid injury. I know the goal is to get the muslces warmed up but is there a specific or easy way to do so? Is there a speific way to step the feet when running, should the ankles be bent at all? Also, is running on a treadmill easier on the joints than running a track/etc? I have heard running can injure the lower back.Thank you.
Answer
Hi Andrew
The best thing is to just start off with some easy walking and then work into some running very very easy.Don' try to get in shape overnight.Have a lot of patience and be consistent.Your body will tell when you can push a little. When you finish your run you can then do some easy stretching on all muscle groups and stretch out your lower back. You can run on any surface, any don't worry about your feet or ankles, just run.Any other questions just get in touch.
All the best
John
