Recreational jogger

Question
I have begun jogging about 6 months ago, I am up to about 2-3 miles mostly every day.  However, my right ankle has been hurting.  I can still jog, but after a couple of miles it gets sore.  I just recently bought new shoes, could it be I am not footing correctly while I jog?

Answer
Hi Lisa
The footing is not a problem. The body's musculature and energy systems adapts to a level of stress and workload over time and needs a certain amount of easy activity or rest for growth, strength, healing to come forward. The most important thing when your starting out is a lot of patience, and build into your program easy days or alternative activity or just complete rest.As i said, your body will adapt very nicely over time, and if you don't heed the signals it will talk to you.Lisa if you have other questions just get in touch.

All the best

John
