left leg inner mid calf pain

Question
Hi John,

I started training for a marathon coming up in nov. About a month ago I stopped running because of an incisive pain in the mid/upper inner calf area. At the time, it would just start hurting when running, and then just go away after 1-2 miles and then came back after running. It got to the point it hurt when walking during the day. I then ceased to train took about 5-6 weeks off, of which 2-3 weeks I did not exercised and the last 2 I started to do some biking and stretching. Pain was gone after 1 week of stopping the runs, and now that I am back up again, starting the marathon training, and just about 1.5 after starting I feel like that little pain (not as strong) but creeping back again. It is just noticeable when I run. And just 1-2 times during the day when I walk.

What is this, is just really bad shin splits? Or did I tear something?
