inner ankle pain

2016/7/22 10:10:50

Question
I'm 38 and weight 225.  I started jogging about two months ago. I got fitted shoes for my flat feet. I had been running 1.5-2miles 2-3 times a week.  The last run on the street I felt strong pain on my right ankle that went up about 4 inches on the inside of the leg.  I took 4 days off and then ran 2 miles on the track with no problem. 2 days later on the the track I could only complete 3 laps due to pain.  Are these shin splints or another problem.  Also do I keep running through the pain or will that further aggravate the problem?  I ran cross country in high school but was about 50 pounds lighter.  Thanks, Brent

Answer
Brent,
I'm sorry, but I'm not an athletic trainer, nor can I evaluate such an injury over an email.  I would not run through the pain because that only makes a problem worse.  I would look at getting it checked out by a doctor or chiropractor as my suggestions.
