middle toe clicking

Question
Hi

i went for a 7 mile run on saturday and my middle toe felt stiff. It now clicks in and out of place when I walk and i simply can't run. It isn't swollen and doesn't feel dislocated (i.e. I tried to see if a bone needed pushing back into place, but it feels normal). However, the pain when it clicks is too much to ignore when I run. What is wrong? Will it go away with rest as I am trying to train for a marathon. Are my shoes a problem?

Answer
Hi Michelle
Can't figure this one.Shoes can cause many problems if there is not enough room for the foot to expand on implant. You could try doing some stationary bike workouts for a while and see if it goes away.I have found over many years and miles that you can trace back over your training and daily activities and pin point when it started with a 98% success rate.If you want to go back and think hard and get back to me I'll take a good stab at it Michelle.I would say probably  2 to 3 months would do.Most problems come on slowly and if you think hard you will find it.Give it a go Michelle.

All the best

John
