Weight not budging

Question
I am a 30 year old female carrying about 25 extra pounds. I trained for my first 5K this past fall and finished it in 32:40. I was very proud of myself. I took 7 weeks off from exercise (biggest mistake ever) and took up working out 4-5 days a week. I am doing 45 minutes cardio and alternating between arms and legs weight workouts. I also run my neighborhood, alot of hills, at least once a week. I eat rather healthy and am very discouraged to see that in one month I have gained 2 pounds. Everyone keeps lecturing me that muscle weighs more than fat, but I feel I should have dropped a few pounds by now. Any suggestions on how I can kick up the weight loss?
Answer
Hi Sandy
The most important thing when you make the decision to get back in shape and your truly committed is to be very consistent with your workouts and have a great deal of patience. It is true about the muscle fat issue, but it is blown out of proportion.Let me put it into perspective Sandy. You have to burn off 3500 calories for 1 pound of fat.You burn aprox. 100 cal.per mile running. So if you were to just run,you would have to run 35 miles a week to lose 1 pound. This is asuming you don't over eat.My point is as you can see it takes patience and a desciplined balanced diet and a consistent workout program. To get results faster you have to increase your work load and watch your diet carefully.1 month is nothing.Don't go by pounds. The best tool is your mirror. When you can stand in front of it naked and you can say i LOVE what i see in all the right places or you don't then you just have to keep at it.Don't give up hope,it takes time. This is why they rent a coach. If you have any other questions just get in touch Sandy.I have been down the road to.See the girl i my web site....10 Week program, but she worked like hell and was a great client.
All the very best
John
