Pain on top of head when I stop jogging

2016/7/22 10:10:00

Question
QUESTION: Hi, I run on the treadmill about 9 K every other day, some times everyday, when I suddenly stop, I get a pain on the top of my head, I never use to get this before.  I am 48 years.  What do you think it is.  THank you

ANSWER: Hi Sarah
To give you my thoughts propperly i will need a little more info as to how long you have been running and number of days a weeks on a consistent basis, height weight smoker etc.I will say this sarah that when i started up years back from scratch i experienced the same thing.I just brushed it off as a lack of conditioing which was obvious since i had not done any exercise for years except for tennis and golf, and was also  very over weight, like about 50 pounds and smoking 2 packs a day.Now i know after all these years what was the cause.First don't get alarmed but do get back to me.I would say and i don't no that you are new to exercising.Am i correct and how much? this will help in my response.

All the best

John

QUESTION: Thanks John,  I am not new to jogging, Its been years, I will jog every day if I can mostly 5 days a week, I am 5ft 7, weigh 60 Kgs, don't smoke, nor eat any junk food,
Thanks for your help with this,

Answer
Hi Sarah
I guess you are in good shape. This makes it a little harder to diagnos. My guess is it has something to do with the recerculating of the blood back into the heart after being in lower extremities for extended time and increases presure on the way back.Do you also get a little light headed and wobly after your run? Here is a test to see if it corrects it.When your finishing your run, gradually bring the pace down for about 4 t 8 minutes instead of a quick stop so the blood can recerculate easier. Also check your blood preasure over a week. Please Sarah let me know how that test does.Thanks.Let me know if have any more questions. My guess is it will do the trick.

All the best

John
